This year is WHISC’s 35 year anniversary. You are invited to our birthday celebrations on Thursday 11th July 2019 at Leaf @ 7pm
There will be some wonderful prizes up for grabs, poetry, live music, art and stand-up comedy!
For 35 years WHISC has been supporting women throughout Merseyside. Founded by a group of women in 1984 who wanted more provisions for women’s health, WHISC has been at the forefront of women’s health in the city.
We support all women’s mental health and wellbeing, through the provision of psychological therapies, complementary therapies, self-help, exercise classes and health education. We empower all women with information, free support and activities that combat isolation and support wellbeing.
We believe all women should be respected, and girls should grow up with high self-esteem. No one should experience barriers to getting the information, support and care they need for them to achieve optimum health. Our Drop-In provides women with a menu of services which they can engage with and our outreach activities builds links with communities throughout Merseyside.

Francesca Georgia – Writer – Francesca Georgia is a Yorkshire gal, adopted by the wonderful city of Liverpool. She writes about sex, love and mental health with dark humour, raw honesty and uncensored enthusiasm. Katie Jarman – A queer poet and performer who works supporting young women by day and poeting about feminism and identity by night. I’ve performed at local events and Leeds International Festival and my first play is being produced by a feminist theatre company early next year
Stand Up Comedy
Verity Dow – Verity doesn’t like to brag BUT she is a socially awkward, thirty two year old, third wheeling professional and soon to be divorcee, who laughs in the face of danger so hard, she has to wear a tena lady! She has been writing and performing comedy for as long as she can remember and all of her stand up stories are true, based on her own entertaining experiences in attempting to adult, divorcing without dignity and surrreal social setbacks
Rachael Jean Harris Music
Galileo Girl – Galileo Girl is the name for the sonic exploration of Abi Dot from Seatbelts. Vibing, dancing and making music in Liverpool, from her basement base. Live peformances in 2018 at The Reeds, Bold Street Festival and the Invisible Wind Factory followed in 2019 in Chester for the Lobotomy Boogie. Mixing folk, spoken word, ambient guitar, and featuring different live collaborators Galileo Girl had been described as sounding like a “Mellow Sabbath” or if “Bjork and Sonic Youth had an Acoustic Child”
